I spent eight months working as a waiter at this beautiful eco resort located in the heart of the Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand. When I wasn’t working, I took a lot of photographs and made a number of photography career achievements here:
- Photobook – I printed a photobook of my best photos of the season to display in the lodge lounge for customers and staff to enjoy. It’s a compilation of memories and moments from the season accompanied by text and descriptions. I also sell smaller versions of this book in the lodge’s gift shop. You can browse a virtual version of the larger book here.
- Newspaper published photograph – When regional newspaper Marlborough Express asked to do a story on a rescued baby seal resident at the lodge, the lodge owner asked me to get a photo within a few hours for the publishing deadline. Despite the rain and un-cooperative nature of a wild animal, I managed to get the shot which was published in the newspaper and online here.
- Facebook Page Promotion – Whilst at Lochmara, for 8 months I regularly posted photo albums with commentary to the lodge’s Facebook page which helped promote the business and showcase my work. The lodge owners were very grateful and I received a lot of kind feedback from visitors.
- Image Collection – You can see a collection of Lochmara images by clicking here.
